Laser Pigmentation Removal - Bexhill - East Sussex

Laser Pigmentation Removal

Achieve a clearer, more even complexion with our Laser Pigmentation Removal treatment, powered by Super IPL technology from AllWhite Laser AW3®—a UK-manufactured, globally recognised leader in medical-grade laser equipment. This treatment targets and eliminates hyper-pigmentation, including sun damage, brown spots and unwanted freckles and birthmarks.

Hyper-pigmentation is a common skin concern, often caused by excessive melanin production due to sun exposure. The dark spots and uneven skin tone that result can be effectively treated with Super IPL. The technology works by delivering precise light pulses that break down the excess melanin in the skin, helping to fade dark spots and even out your complexion. Additionally, it stimulates collagen production, promoting healthier, smoother skin.

As the laser’s energy is absorbed by the pigmented cells, they break apart and are naturally eliminated by your body, leaving your skin looking brighter and more uniform over time. The process is safe, effective, and pain-free, ensuring minimal downtime. For deeper hyper-pigmentation concerns, we may also incorporate the ND YAG Laser as an alternative, providing targeted results for more stubborn discolouration.

    Alcohol, Caffeine and Smoking:

    Other Preparations:

    • Have a sterile cold compress ready at home for post-treatment care.

    • Inform your practitioner of any changes to your medical history or any upcoming or recent aesthetic, medical, or beauty treatments on the area to be treated.

    • Aloe Vera Gel: Use 99.9% Pure Aloe Vera Gel immediately after treatment and for a few days afterward if necessary. Only use the product purchased from the clinic, as other products may contain ingredients that irritate the skin.

    • Sunbeds and Sunbathing: You must avoid sunbeds and sunbathing for at least 6 weeks following your treatment.

    • Medications: Do not take anti-inflammatory medications like Ibuprofen or Aspirin for 7 days post-treatment. Paracetamol and antihistamines may be taken within recommended guidelines if needed.

    • Heat Exposure: For 48 hours post-treatment, avoid hot showers, hot baths, steam rooms, saunas, and strenuous exercise. These can aggravate the treated area and delay healing.

    • Avoid Water Exposure: Keep the treated area dry for the first 24-48 hours.

    • Perfumed Products: Avoid using perfumed lotions, shower gels, or creams on the treated area until it has fully healed. Only use Aloe Vera Gel recommended by the clinic.

    • Hydration and Rest: Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, and ensure you get ample rest after your treatment to aid recovery. Avoid strenuous exercise for 48 hours.

    • Alcohol and Smoking: Alcohol and smoking can delay the healing process, so it is advised to avoid during your healing period.

    • Warmth, redness, swelling, itching, irritation, and tenderness: These symptoms are normal and may occur immediately or a few days after treatment.

    • Scabbing, swelling, and bleeding: These symptoms may happen but are temporary. Scabs should be left to heal naturally.

FAQs

  • The treatment works by emitting intense pulses of light that penetrate the skin. The light energy is absorbed by the melanin (the pigment responsible for dark spots) in the targeted area. This energy breaks the pigmented cells into smaller particles, which are then naturally removed by the body’s lymphatic system or brought to the surface of the skin and shed as part of the skin's natural renewal process.

  • Yes, Laser Pigmentation Removal can often be combined with treatments like Chemical Peels, Radiofrequency Microneedling, Dermapen Microneedling, or other Laser Skin Rejuvenation treatments to enhance skin rejuvenation.

However, other treatments are not performed on the same day. Your practitioner will advise a personalised treatment plan based on your skin concerns and advise how to time each treatment. This allows for sufficient healing time between appointments and maximises the effectiveness of each treatment.

  • The number of sessions required for Laser Pigmentation Removal varies from person to person.

Factors such as the depth and severity of the pigmentation, your body’s natural healing response, and lifestyle habits like sun exposure all play a role.

In some cases, pigmentation can be completely removed in a single session, while others may need multiple treatments to achieve the desired result. On average, most clients notice significant improvement within 3 to 6 sessions. However, deeper or more persistent pigmentation may require further treatment.

Appointments are scheduled at least 4 weeks apart to ensure proper skin healing and optimal treatment outcomes.

We cannot guarantee exactly how many sessions will be needed or whether complete removal is achievable.

  • Treatments must be spaced a minimum of at least 4 weeks apart.

  • In most cases, we use our Super Intense Pulsed Light (SIPL) machine for pigmentation removal. This method is not painful, and most clients generally report a sensation of warmth during the treatment.

For more stubborn pigmentation concerns, we may use our ND YAG Laser, if suitable. This can be slightly more uncomfortable, often described as a feeling similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin.

Both methods are very quick procedures, and both machines are Medical Grade, UK-manufactured by AW3 Allwhite Laser – a globally renowned and trusted laser manufacturer.

  • It depends on the size of the area and how many areas you have treated. Your practitioner will advise you during your consultation as to how long each appointment is likely to take.

  • No - all traces of tanning products must be removed from the treatment area before your laser session. This includes all fake tanning agents, gradual tanning moisturisers, oils and lotions. This is because fake tan acts as pigmentation on the skin - which could cause complications with your treatment.

Fake tan can be worn in between sessions but on the day of your treatment, your skin needs to be clear.

You can use self tan on other body areas - you just need to avoid your desired treatment area.

  • Hyperpigmentation that has been successfully removed will not return after treatment, however the treatment will not prevent new pigmented lesions from occurring.

Various factors such as ageing, changes in hormone levels or UV exposure can stimulate new hyperpigmentation.

We strongly recommend wearing a high-quality SPF on a daily basis - rain or shine, summer or winter - to prevent future pigmentation.
